We asked men and women what their ideal physique would be and also what physique type they find most desirable in the opposite sex. Here's what the results of our ULTIMATE Body Survey revealed!

LADIES... 93.5% of the women we surveyed said that they wanted to develop a lean and sexy athletic physique. Only 4.9% indicated that they wanted to develop a skinny body and the other 1.6% indicated that they would like to develop a muscular body builder type physique. And... 92.9% of the males we surveyed said they find the lean and sexy athletic look much more attractive in a female than any other type of physique.

Only 3.6% indicated that they wanted to develop a skinny body and the other 14.3% indicated that they would like to develop a big and bulky body builder type physique. And... 88.7% of the females we surveyed said they find the lean and muscular athletic look much more attractive in a male than any other type of physique.

It's clear that the majority of people would prefer the lean look of an athlete, and not only that, but it's also the look most people seem to find most attractive in the opposite sex. If LEAN and ATHLETIC is what people want, then why on earth are the majority of people still eating like a fat person and training like bodybuilders???

I just want to say a big thanks for the ABS. I have been following the program since January and the results have been amazing. When I weighed myself early January....I was close to 90kg and wasn't too pleased with my physique. Now, just 3 months on, I am just under 84kg through a combination of changing my diet and adopting the ABS program.

I have decided to challenge myself further and have entered for the 2009 Universe Weekend in Miami June 18-21 June 2009 and although some of the other competitors look quite intimidating, with your help and advice I am sure I can take them on. lol

Here's How I Got Fat In The First Place...

I've always been a relatively active and athletic guy, but somewhere along the way, I kind of lost track of my active and healthy lifestyle. If I had to try and pinpoint when exactly it was that I went off track, I'd have to say it was right around the time I picked up some extra work to pay for my wedding. I gradually stopped taking care of myself and started eating foods that I knew were bad for me. As someone who played sports all his life and stayed in pretty good shape, it was a little disheartening to learn that I'd gained 40 pounds before my big day!

I had an image of myself as a fit and athletic guy and the weight gain definitely changed that. When I looked in the mirror and saw my new chubby self, I was not happy to say the least.

My Post Honeymoon Weight Loss Story...

Workout Mistake #1

Poor Exercise Selection and Sequence

 

To build muscle, your workouts need to include exercises that engage as many muscle groups as possible. These are called compound exercises. If your workouts primarily consist of tons of preacher curls, leg extensions, tricep kick backs or other single joint movements – you are NOT getting the most out of your workouts. Once you pick the RIGHT EXERCISES, you need to include them into your training routine in the right order and at the right intensity. More demanding exercises are done first and the exercises that “supplement” the primary exercises are done next and so on…until the end of the workout. This will lead to explosive muscle gains!

Lack of Intensity

True StoryI know what it is like to be the small guy. Trust me. When I was a sophomore in high school I wrestled 98 lbs, at 5’10”! Can you believe it, I was beyond skinny. As I progressed through high school, my weight increased along with my height to 6’0 and 125 lbs during my senior year.

In college, I started getting serious with weight training and I remember going down into the weight room and watching these guys throwing up 70 lb dumbbells on the incline bench and thinking to myself, “One day I’ll be able to lift those!” Unfortunately, at the time, I was stuck on the 30 lb dumbbells. I was lost with no direction and for the next 3 years I kept training to exhaustion with little to no progress. When I finished college, I weighed 160 lbs.

 

I knew I had to get serious if I ever wanted to reach my strength and size goals. After college I started reading everything from Iron Man, Flex and Men’s Health magazines. I even sent away for one of those old Charles Atlas “kick sand in your face” home courses! But as you know, the exercise routines in these magazines were typically 4 sets of 12 of everything! You have to remember, this was back before the internet really exploded and training information was very limited. So I did those routines and was always run down, irritable and hated going to the gym. At the time I weighed around 185 lbs.

 

When I finally became serious I got certified as a strength coach in 2001 through the NSCA. Finally, I started to learn how muscle and strength were built. Not with endless sets of smith machine squats, but instead with free weight, ground-based, compound exercises! I immediately wanted to share my new found knowledge with other and make a difference in their lives. That was my passion.

 

Any good strength coach knows that they SHOULD NEVER STOP LEARNING. That is exactly what I have done. Over the years I have read all of the books, attended all of the seminars and conferences and learned what it takes to put together a sound, comprehensive program proven to build muscle, get stronger, avoid plateaus and improve your posture and overall movement.
