  • Fax your cover letter and resume to your top 10 companies in the pervious step IF you can't get an email address to send to.
  • Email your "email resume" to whomever you get an email address from. Whether it's from a job board or any other source you were able to get this information.

    Note! The "email resume" is the most important of the three resumes and should always be option#1!

    First, as you probably already know, a paradigm shift occurs when society starts to move away from common practice and theory. Usually this occurs because of inventions aka "agents of change" or new sciences dictate that newer thoughts and practices are better than the old, and people tend to agree, and eventually it becomes the norm.

    An example of an "agent of change" affecting how society thinks and changes is the printing press. Because of the printing press information and knowledge became more readily available and thus this sparked the scientific revolution.

    Another example is the home computer and the internet which changed the way we communicate today and sparked the information revolution.

    Other examples of "agents of change" that influenced how society acts, thinks, or lives are: the microwave, the car, the wheel, the telephone, fast food restaurants, cell phones, and space exploration to name a few.

    So, what are the "latest" paradigm shifts that are affecting you and your job getting abilities? They are these:

    1. Social Media aka Social Networking, and
    2. Behavioral Interviewing

    You Can't Hide Anymore!

    Everyone can be "found" on the internet or by other means by employers.

    By actually telling the recruiter WHERE to find the information they seek you are in essence CONTROLLING the information they read.

    Failure to share with employers what you want them to see leaves the whole scenario up for grabs and unfortunately opens up the possibility of them having to find (or not) the wrong kind of information about you!

    This is where a little "mind-control" begins to take place!

    Then There's The Dreaded Interview

    On top of the Social Networking paradigm shift, there is also an HR (human resource) paradigm shift that is occurring too! And what's at the forefront of the new way of hiring candidates is this little thing called "behavioral hiring."

    The concept is asking behavioral related questions so that the employer can fairly estimate what type of person you truly are. And they can ascertain all this based on past behavior.

    In the eyes of employers (whether it's true or not) past behavior predicates future behavior.

    Put the two paradigm shifts together and you have (depending on your situation) a recipe for success or a recipe for disaster!

    It all depends on how you constructed your "story" using these "agents of change."

    Because what the REAL DEAL is all about is people are trying to figure out who you are and what you're about on a more personal level and they are using social media and behavioral sciences against you!

    Templates and Sales Letter Generators:

    Templates and generators are great for helping with structure (which paragraph goes where, insert features here, yadda yadda...) but they don't help much with the content. 

    The end result can also be very 'canned'.  In fact, if you were to study many of the sales letters online now you could probably recognize the template or generator used to write them.

    Well... your customer isn't 'canned' and hopefully your product is somewhat unique.  Meaning you need to be flexible in the way you communicate with your prospect so they hear what they need to hear - when they need to hear it.

    Copywriting courses:

    These are absolutely indispensable.  It goes without saying... How can you ever excel at something without studying it?  Don't be fooled!  There are some incredible courses and systems out there but you can't just consume the material once and walk away a master.  Like anything else it will require a lot of study, note-taking, practice and failure before you begin to internalize the course material.

    When you're trying to promote a business do you really have the time to become a master copywriter first?

    Power word lists:

    Ask any successful copywriter or entrepreneur and they'll tell you that it's not the pretty web site or brochure that makes massive sales for your business - it's the WORDS that do most of the selling.

    Those "kick-butt", "take-no-prisoner" words that only top-paid copywriters and online businesses use to make "enormous" amounts of cold-hard cash. Words that paint vivid pictures in the mind, action words, or words that are more persuasive in an offer or promotion. Some even refer to these as "Hypnotic Selling" words.

    When used properly Power Words will cause your prospect to practically beg you to take their money*

    But there are literally hundreds of Power Words! 

    How can you possibly use them effectively unless you've memorized every one of them AND trained your brain to use them at the exact, most opportune moment instead of using whatever common, ordinary word you'd normally use?

    Having a list of power words can be very helpful but its not enough to plug up all the money-sucking holes in your copy.

    Professional Copywriters:

    Hiring a master copywriter is almost as good as it gets when you want to want to maximize your profits.

    • They know all the elements necessary to produce powerful copy.

    • They have the experience to know how the elements should be structured to effectively present your solution to your market.

    • And they have extensive knowledge of the vocabulary that can make your sales page drip with whatever sweet nectar your prospect is dying to drink.

    The obvious downside is the enormous cost, which could easily set you back $30,000 for a master copywriter who has the experience to deliver all the above.  They also won't know or have the passion for your product as much as you do.

    The answer is clear...

    The only way to really pull all these partial solutions together so you can extract maximum value from your sales page is to invest a couple decades and become a master copywriter yourself.  Otherwise you're letting necessary profit slip right through your fingers.

    But that's not practical either is it?
