You can use this method in any business – hairdressers, real estate, chiropractic, car sales, com­puters, plumbers… it applies for any business. When you know the life time value of your average customer, you know how much you can afford to spend to acquire new customers! 

Here’s another example: hairdressers. Listen up. To get new more customers, most salons place ads in magazines, print up glossy brochures and offer weak discount specials like 10 or 20% off. Often the results are poorer than poor.

Is there a better way? You bet. Do you remember Stefan Ackerie of Stefan’s Hair Salon fame? He owned a chain of hair salons across Australia some years ago. Anyway, Stefan was a smart cookie. He knew the average client spent $25 each visit, of which, $17 was real profit. Client’s returned 10 times a year for 4 years , on average. Total profit: $17 x 10 x 4 = $680.

• The emails you receive (even from people you know) can be infected with viruses. 
• Viruses can send infected emails from your computer to all of your mailing list, with your name on it. 
• If you're running ant-virus software alone, it usually does not keep your system from becoming infected.  It may detect the virus after your system is already compromised.  A firewall is required to make your system invisible to hackers.  The spyware program I recommend also can keep your system from becoming infected with viruses before they do damage. 
• With the most popular paid software, all you can do is run a scan and hope for the best.  The free software has additional features that allows you to get rid of many problems interactively, so you know everything is fixed.  It even gives you detailed information on what it finds.

I ran into my first virus-infected system around 1995.  It made programs larger and larger, taking more time to load each time they were run.  I remember wondering what kind of idiot would waste his time creating something to annoy people he didn't even know.

There are three free software packages
I have been using to cure this problem for quite a while.  I like using them, in particular, (especially the free spyware remover), because there are some things you can do in addition to just running the programs and letting them search for problems.

This allows me to make sure that every trace of this scumware is removed. A note: Two of them charge a small fee for business computers, but they are still a better deal than anything else around.  The free Anti-virus I use offers a  free update service. 

So does the free Spyware remover and the free Firewall.  

Anti-virus software is TOTALLY USELESS unless it is updated frequently.  Most viruses you pick up are new.

One thing I do, is use some windows utilities as a tool to shut down most viruses and spyware before installing the software.

Some people throw out computers because they are running so slow.  In a few weeks or months, their new computers are running just as slow.  

These problems have to be dealt with right now.  Before the computer completely crashes and everything is lost.

Viruses are capable of pretty much anything their twisted authors can conceive.  Many times they corrupt the hard drive to the point that the system will not boot at all.

When you get to that point, you may have to re-partition and reformat your hard drive.  Anything you have on the system may be lost, unless you have backups.  And the backups could even be corrupted.

You can find lots of products on the Internet that claim to do the job.  But I have yet to find any software that gets rid of all the problems by itself, every time.

Just installing any protection software is not enough.  I have a lot of experience, but it still took me quite a while to learn the little tricks that are needed to set this software up correctly.  This includes disabling some viruses before downloading or installing any software.  Some viruses disable the protection software.

Some of these worms and viruses seem to repeatedly re-install themselves if you don't get everything out of the system.  And it's even more dangerous if you are always connected to the Internet with a high-speed link. 

All of this is why I decided to share this information by writing a book.
